Four-year-old Pierro mare The Right Page led all the way and held off a looming favourite to break her maiden with a strong win over 2050m at Wodonga.
Having just her fourth career start, the mare relished the step up in distance. Partnered by jockey Will Price, the pair took luck out of the equation, crossing from barrier seven to take up the running.
Jumping cleanly, she secured a soft lead but maintained a genuine tempo throughout, kept honest by pressure from the race favourite sitting in second. Perfectly placed in this field and well rated by Price, the duo left nothing to chance&mdash;putting a gap on the competition as they straightened. The mare kept on solidly, proving just too good with the rest unable to catch her, winning by an impressive 1.75 lengths.
A fantastic result for connections, particularly Bennett Racing&mdash;ardent supporters of the stable who have shared a long-standing association with Dom since his days travelling with The Astrologist.

Legend Of Dubai proved that age is just a number, breaking through for his first Australian win at the ripe old age of seven.
Partnered by in-form apprentice Logan Bates, the pair delivered a masterful performance to claim the Benchmark 64 over 1400m at Pakenham on Thursday night.
Having begun his career with Godolphin in England, the well-travelled son of Dubawi was an affordable purchase from the Inglis Digital Sale, acquired by Lizzie Jelfs and the team at Sutton Racing.
Returning from a spell, the gelding was prepared at Flemington, where he impressed with two strong jump outs ahead of his resumption.
Jumping cleanly from a favourable barrier four, the duo settled into stride quickly, pressing forward to sit outside the leader. Bates rated him beautifully, biding his time and allowing the gelding to stalk the pace throughout&mdash;ready to strike when the moment arrived.
Having travelled sweetly throughout, the gelding drew level from the 300m mark and let down with a solid dash over the final furlong, driving through to win by a length.

OLD BOY’S STILL GOT IT

Talented two-year-old Hey Jessie produced a commanding performance at Caulfield, leading from pillar to post to score an impressive victory over 1000m on the Heath.
At just her second career outing, the daughter of Too Darn Hot set a blistering tempo, crossing from a wide barrier to dictate the race and deliver in style.
The filly had shown promise on debut at Geelong, where a slow start saw her concede too much ground early&mdash;ultimately costing her the win. Nevertheless, she stormed home to finish second, one of the only runners in the small field to make up ground.
Keen to avoid the same mistake at Caulfield, jockey Billy Egan had her jump cleanly, using her early momentum to cross and take up the lead. Striding out confidently, she controlled the race, setting the pace and making use of her high cruising speed.
Turning for home with a rails run, Hey Jessie kicked clear at the top of the straight and showed real determination, digging deep in the closing stages to fend off a fast finishing Yuuki and secure the win in a gutsy finish.
It was terrific to see her back up that strong debut with a professional display, converting that race experience into a well-earned victory.
A notable result for outstanding sire Too Darn Hot, who continues to set the standard with his emerging progeny across both hemispheres.

HEY JESSIE LEADS FROM START TO FINISH AT CAULFIELD

A recent addition to the stable, four-year-old Epaulette gelding Luckett showed promising tenacity to break through with a well-earned maiden win on Terang Cup Day.
Previously a four-start maiden, Luckett joined the stable following a spell and was prepared exclusively at our Flemington base. He had a jump-out and a 1500m trial under his belt before resuming at Sale, where he signalled his potential with a strong third over 1700m.
At Terang, the gelding relished the rise in trip to 1800m. Although he found himself positioned closer to the speed than ideal, he displayed plenty of grit to hold off a fast-finishing Sweltering and secure a tough victory.
Ridden by the experienced Daniel Moor, and jumping from barrier four, Luckett pressed forward early to settle just off the pace. Travelling comfortably in fifth throughout, the pair moved up to fourth one off the rail as they approached the home turn. Asked for an effort, Luckett responded gamely. Despite showing a touch of greenness under pressure, he loomed strongly at the 300m, struck the front, and dug deep to deny the favourite in a thrilling photo finish.
It was terrific to see this son of Epaulette, out of a High Chaparral mare, shed his maiden tag. A later-maturing type, the gelding continues to hone his craft and looks likely to progress further as he gets over more ground.

A MAIDEN BREAKTHROUGH FOR LUCKETT

The well-bred Toronado gelding Detroit City made a triumphant return to the winner&rsquo;s enclosure on Friday evening, producing a polished performance to land the Benchmark 64 over the mile at Cranbourne.
Dropping markedly in grade following five consecutive outings at Group level, the three-year-old took full advantage of the class relief, asserting his authority with an impressive two-length success.
Carrying top weight, and given a tactical, patient ride by Luke Cartwright. Detroit City who had drawn widest of all in barrier five was away swiftly and crossed to take up position towards the rear of the compact field. Content to settle a couple of lengths adrift of the leading pair&mdash;namely the well-supported Futatsu and market favourite Littlebirdie&mdash;Cartwright bided his time, keeping the gelding well within himself before setting him alight turning for home.
As the runners swung into the straight, Detroit City was produced down the outer with a sweeping run, lengthening smartly, and class prevailed as the pair put the race to bed in the final furlong.
It was a thoroughly professional display from a horse still on the up, and one that will have provided a welcome boost to his confidence. Though not traditionally known for a sit-and-sprint style, the manner in which he quickened suggests versatility going forward.
Now the winner of three from just eight career starts, connections will be plotting a path back through the grades, with plenty to look forward to. Another terrific win for Sutton Racing and connections.

DETROIT CITY SHOWS HIS CLASS AT CRANBOURNE

Friday night, under the lights at Cranbourne, saw Nodachi return to the winners&rsquo; circle, securing her first win since joining the stable. <img src="https://www.prism.horse/api/public/image/d23e3dc7dd544533997a648eaa680c3f.jpg" alt="" width="687" height="457" />
Freshened with a month between runs, Nodachi, who is based at our Ballarat facility, lined up in the &lsquo;Hygain Tracktourque Handicap&rsquo; over the 1300m. Having her fourth run this campaign the 4YO daughter of No Nay Never had a solid base of fitness going into the race, which together with a tenacious effort saw her come away with the victory.
Jumping from barrier seven, the mare, partnered by jockey Logan Bates, was away quickly and picked up a solid tempo. On settling she was three wide mid field but with cover, and despite the awkward position maintained an easy rhythm. Peeling out as they turned for home the mare was full of running as they entered the straight. The pair levelled with the leaders pulling away from the rest of the field, in a nail biting dual to the finish line. Nodachi had just enough to edge ahead in the final strides, getting the better in a photo finish.
The mare travelled well throughout, taking advantage of her momentum and the short straight, where she was really able to dig deep and showcase her turn of foot. Getting the job done and securing her third career win.
The team at Sutton Racing are incredibly grateful for the support of David and Jennie Moodie who race the horse along with Ash Hardwick. So to get a winner for them in the Contract Racing colours is incredibly special. Traveling confidently despite being three-wide, she unleashed an impressive turn of foot down the middle of the track, surging clear to score by half a length.</div>

Also ridden by Billy Egan, the lightly raced Gold Standard mare having her first start for the stable off the back of a strong Flemington jump-out. From a wide gate, she settled towards the back and maintained a strong gallop throughout. Timing her run to perfection, Perfect Gold wound up late to snatch victory in a thrilling finish, getting her nose in front right on the line. With natural improvement to come, she shapes as an exciting prospect as she steps out over further. A remarkable achievement for all involved, securing our first Group 1 and following on from that with our first double, capping off a truly memorable weekend for Sutton Racing. A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER

<div style="text-align: center;">After narrowly being beaten in the&nbsp;Group 1 Caulfield Guineas last spring, Feroce came back in full force, taking out the Howden&nbsp;Australian Guineas over 1600m at Flemington. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">"It's going to take a few days to settle in to be honest," Dom said.&nbsp; </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">"I've just been having a really tough run of seconds recently, so I was hoping to just get a winner anywhere, so to do it on the biggest stage of all with this horse, he's been the flag bearer for our stable since day one.&nbsp;</div>

Group 1 🏆 Victory

Last time we saw Garachico was on the first Tuesday in November, Melbourne Cup Day. When he won the Australian Heritage Cup over 2800m at Flemington.&nbsp;
Three months later Dom now calls Flemington home,&nbsp; after opening the barn doors to a stable of 25. Expanding his operation across two location's, Flemington and Ballarat.&nbsp;
Garachico returned to the races at Caufield, first up in a BM100 over 2000m. Carrying the minimum seen Billy Egan losing the ride and Harry Coffey taking the reins. Harry steering the gelding to a winning victory, beating Grand Pierro.&nbsp;

Garachico Back With A Bang!

Dom was propelled into the big time when his first winner Feroce finished second, beaten 0.2 lengths by Private Life, in the Group1 Caulfield Guineas. Magic Millions has been a busy few days for the talented young trainer sourcing youngsters to bolster his burgeoning stable, and on Thursday he added a filly by I Am Invincible to his collection to go with a colt by the same sire he purchased in conjunction with Johnny McKeever on Wednesday. Offered by Yarraman Park Stud, the filly was purchased alongside Byron Rogers for $560,000.The filly is the first foal out of Vinery Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m)-placed winner. On Wednesday, the trainer added his first I Am Invincible to his stable when he went to $600,000 for the second foal out of the Group 2-winning mare Haut Brion Her (Zoustar). Having had his first runner in March last year,&nbsp;Sutton has built his stable up in relatively quick time with a base located at Ballarat &amp; now Flemington. &ldquo;We&rsquo;ve got 33 in work. We&rsquo;ve just taken on Flemington as a new base. We&rsquo;ve been granted 25 boxes there, so we&rsquo;ve expanded again. It&rsquo;s all happened fairly quickly, but we always had our eyes on the training at Flemington. I know the facilities very well. 
&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t take it for granted whatsoever. I&rsquo;m extremely fortunate to be in this position, to be able to put my hand up for high quality horses and have the trust of people to do that. It&rsquo;s a great honour in many ways to be able to have horses like this in the stable.&rdquo;
Alongside the two yearlings by I Am Invincible, Sutton also paired up with Rogers to purchase a colt by So You Think (High Chaparral) for $275,000, while he and McKeever teamed up to buy a son of Street Boss (Street Cry) for $160,000.

One of the first horses to enter Dom Sutton's stable in November 2023 was Garachico, a 6yo gelding by Ribchester.&nbsp;
After performing consistently this preparation without winning, running in the Australian Heritage Cup over 2800m on the first Tuesday in November was a plan that was put in fruition. A thrill for all involved to have a winner at Flemington on the most famous day in Australian Racing, Melbourne Cup Day.&nbsp;
Partnered by jockey Billy Egan, with a perfectly timed ride. Garachico looked the winner a long way from home, regardless of what price the book makers had put up. Paying a whooping $61.&nbsp;
A day his connections won't be forgetting about anytime soon.&nbsp;
